Reflectionnaire

When I came into my first meeting with Art and Design tutors I was fairy confident and lost, as probably most of students on their first year. Everything was new and I didn’t really know what to expect, because I had not been in school for the past few years.

I was extremely happy with diversion and comprehension of Visual Communication workshops. All workshop were very satisfactory and hectic for me and I have learned lots of new skills and techniques, which I will use in my future art work.

On my Visual Communication classes I identified that I have strong skills in drawing and good knowledge of colours, composition. I have never done printmaking before so I was a bit anxious about this class. After finishing my Print VisCom, I felt absolutely passionate about using this technique in this workshop. Digital VisCom - the second very good workshop, I would say the most intensive and condensed of all. I learned a lot on this  workshop particularly, but I still founded that is necessary for me to strengthen my skills in Adobe software to improve my workflow. On my Photography workshop I learned new technique called photogram. It was a great experience to work in darkroom with all technical equipment and professional fluids for photos. From this workshop I gained more knowledge about composition and it helps me a lot in my artwork and progress of projects.

Lectures I had were very helpful and covered all my questions and queries about topics like paraphrasing, referencing and reflecting writing. I try to consistently engage in all activities and group crits. The main advantages of crits was that I had to expose my work and ideas to my classmates and tutors and listen others opinions and suggestions, which was very inspiring and new for me.

I managed to find few new artist, but I would like to mention only two of them. First one is Miltos Manetas - visual contemporary artist who creates portraits of cables, peripherals and video game consoles. I was amazed by the fact, that he can create beautiful paintings with very common things, that I will never find attractive for artist. I was always inspired by classic artists and styles, so I was surprised to find modern artist who creates contemporary subject by using classic methods of painting.

Second artist is Oskar Kokoschka. I discovered that his  style is very unique and distinctive and the way his using colours is kind of disturbing but very interesting. I would like to research more about this artist and about some other illustration artists.

I have found it hard to document all my work on the online journal. Although, I found advantages of having Tumblr account - especially at the submission and assessment period. Because I was uploading my project, thoughts and ideas on the blog on the daily basic, all my work was easy to review and access. I had a clear picture of my progress in one place.

I believe I have to improve few things, especially in writing field and time management.

The learning experience is the greatness thing for me and I love to see myself progress more to find my unique style but I need to polish my skills by practising more.

Miltos Manetas - visual contemporary artist, painter and multimedia artist, who creates portraits of cables, peripherals and video game consoles and many more. He creates Internet Art and he is also founder of “Neen”-an internet base art movement. I was amaze by the fact, that he can create beautiful paintings with very common things, that I will never find attractive for artist. I was always inspired by classic artists and classic styles, so I was surprise to find modern artist who creates contemporary subject by using classic methods of painting-oil on canvas in his own specific style.
Manetas is engaged in many various projects, he helps young people by trying to involved them in the artwork.
He also co-oparets with Malcolm McLaren and ThePirateBay.

BLACKBERRY PAINTINGS by Miltos ManetasStarted on Aug 2010"There is a fundamental error in painting-in every school of painting- that has existed until today: we are always painting on a plane that’s different from the plane of reality. We either paint on a canvas or some other support that is positioned in parallel or in front of the world, we never paint over reality itself, we never "paint reality”. Vis Com Drawing
On second day of Drawing Vis Com I have been introduced to different drawing methods. I found interesting to experiment with various styles, lines, tones and colours. I haven’t idea that I can created sketches in some many comprehensive styles. I always thought that my style is very boring and dull. Having opportunity to learn and see others work was very important experience for me.I felt that it was very important experience.
